MIRI: The opening of Miri Uptown Night Market at Desa Senadin will give more opportunities for small traders in the area, says Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin cum Senadin assemblyman on Friday.

In stating this, he said, the area provided plenty of space for local traders to sell their products with an affordable rental price.

When met after distributing mandarin oranges to patrons and traders at the Uptown Night Market, Lee called on the area’s property developer (Miri Housing) to help provide utilities facilities so that the traders have better access to clean water and electricity supply while operating there.

“We want to transform this area into an interesting market place, enticing shoppers and small traders to converge here and make it into a vibrant place,” he pointed out.

The Uptown Senadin Night market started operating since Jan 18 this year with 30 stalls selling various kinds of items namely food and beverages and bundled items.

“A good start with over 30 stalls, and  the ‘Rumah asap’ barbecue stalls seem to have a good number of customers. Nice area for an Uptown Night Market,” he asserted.
