BINTULU: A welfare complex, similar to what has been built in Dalat, is being mooted for Tatau district, according to Women, Childhood Development and Community Well-being Minister, Datuk Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

“Once the complex is established, it will improve access to welfare facilities for people residing in Tatau district, as at the moment, they have to go to Bintulu,” she said during a working visit to the Community based Rehabilitation (CBR) Sinaran Kasih Tatau on Saturday.

Tatau’s CBR which was established in 2015, has a total 40 registered trainees.

“The complex will also house the CBR and Senior Citizen Activity Centre (PAWE) as well as a child care centre,” Fatimah said.

In Sarawak, 55 CBR have been established as part of the government’s continuous efforts and commitment to ensure recovery not only takes place in hospitals but also within the community.

In addition, she said, this group is also given basic training and skills to help them generate incomes.
