KUCHING: The Chinese community in Sarawak will be celebrating Chinese New Year (CNY) tomorrow (Feb 1) and many are doing their last-minute shopping and CNY decorations.
Nonetheless, the pandemic is still hovering over them and many hoped that it will end soon so that lives will return back to normal.
“My wish and hope is that this pandemic will end soon and that the economy of Sarawak can get better,” said ASEAN-China Entrepreneurs Association vice president Michael Liong when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune here on Sunday (Jan 30).
“Wishing all Sarawakians a happy CNY and good health. Gong Xi Fa Chai,” he added.
The CNY family gathering will be held later in the evening and it will be a long holiday for some celebrants and a few days’ break for many people including non-celebrants.
