Tasik Biru rep offers help to storm-affected families

BAU: Concerned with the mishap faced by two families whose homes at Lorong 20, Jalan Taiton here that were damaged due to stormy weather  on Sunday (Feb 6), Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep visited the affected families on Monday (Feb 7).

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Tasik Biru assemblyman said that works to repair the roofs of the victims’ houses would be carried out in the near future.

He said the two residences would be repaired through allocations under the Sarawak Home Improvement Programme for the Poor.

“I hope that the repair works on the two houses with damaged roof structures can be carried out in the near future, given the unpredictable weather conditions at this time,” he said after conducting a survey there on Monday.

He hoped the two affected families would be patient in the meantime until their homes are repaired.

Deputy State Secretary (Rural Transformation) Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, who is also Sarawak Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman, was also present to meet with the affected household heads to identify the assistance that would be provided to them.
