MUKAH: Several low-lying areas here were inundated with water following a downpour that began on Monday night until early Tuesday (Feb 8).
The Civil Defence Force (APM) reported at midnight that the roads were flooded, and Mukah APM officer Capt (APM) Zuriza Sharkawi said the weather had cleared around noon.
“The water level is still high but the situation is manageable.
“As for the Zero Design Mukah area, water had seeped into the office and the workshop. Most of the roads at Kampung Kuala Lama Ressettlement Scheme are under water.
“We want to advise residents to always be vigilant.”
Zuriza added that should the situation take a turn for the worse, residents were urged to call the District Disaster Operations Room or Mukah District Operations Control Centre at 084-872814.
“We will also conduct monitoring operations from time to time.”
The Malaysian Meteorological Department has reported that thunderstorms are likely in the evenings in one or two areas in Sarawak, most notably Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.
Rain is forecast in Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah, also in the evenings.
