MIRI: A fire broke out in a bedroom of a double-storey terrace house at Taman Dinasti, Jalan Taifu Satu here on Tuesday (Feb 8), damaging 35 per cent of the premises.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the owner was outside in the garden in front of the house.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the 60-year-old homeowner immediately called Bomba upon seeing thick fumes coming out from the bedroom window around 9.41am.

Eight firefighters rushed to the location and later brought the fire under control. The whole operation ended at 10.45am.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
