KUCHING: An Indonesian man was sentenced to four months in jail and one stroke of the cane for entering the state without a legal permit last January.

The accused, Wendy William, 20, from Singkawang, Indonesia, pleaded guilty to the charge read to him by an interpreter before Sessions Court judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad who ordered the accused to serve his sentence starting on Monday (Feb 14).

According to the facts of the case, the accused was arrested in a luxury apartment at Jalan Tun Jugah here at 2.50pm on Jan 17.

In a separate case, Wendy was also sentenced to four months’ imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court for involving in illegal online gambling.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali ordered Wendy to serve his sentence from the date of his arrest.
