KUCHING: A total of RM5,000 was donated to the Sarawak Cheshire Home by the wife of the late Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, Puan Sri Datin Amar Corrine Masing here on Tuesday (Feb 15).
The home’s manager Jane Sebastian said the money will be put to good use, especially in view of the current pandemic.
“For the past three years, because of the pandemic, the home has no extra income. Fortunately, the members of the public have been very kind enough to donate food to support our disabled residents,” she said.
She added that the home currently has 65 residents comprising both day care and live-in residents.
“The youngest is 15/16 years old and our oldest resident, aged 85, passed away recently due to old age.
“The food assistance has helped out a lot in supporting our residents who are bedridden. I am very grateful to the public for their generous contribution,” she added.
The home’s current president is Datuk Seri Ang Lai Soon and it has some 17 exco members.
