SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has emerged as one of the world’s 401 best universities in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.
“I would like to share a good news that was announced on Tuesday (Feb 15) night in London. Unimas has been placed among the world’s 401 best universities in the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking for universities aged 50 and under.
“Over the period of three years from 2020 to 2021, all of the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking’s indicators have increased significantly for Unimas,” Unimas vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said during the varsity’s 25th convocation ceremony on Wednesday (Feb 16).
He stated that the convocation ceremony involved 424 postgraduates, 3163 undergraduates and 17 postgraduate diploma (teaching and learning) graduates.
“We will also see 66 international graduates coming from 21 different countries during the four days of the convocation ceremony and we wish them success as most of them are attending this ceremony virtually.”
He also disclosed that four graduates were recipients of the Pro-Chancellor Award, Chancellor’s Award and Royal Education Award for the Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera category.
The third session involved a total of 1,078 undergraduates in which 570 are from the Faculty of Economics and Business; 434 postgraduates from the Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Resource Development and 74 undergraduates from the Faculty of Language and Communication.
Also present were Unimas board chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie and other dignitaries.
