SIBU: The General Operations Force (GOF) 10th Battalion base camp in Lanang, which was built in 1969, will be moved to a new base camp by 2025.
This was revealed by GOF 10th Battalion commanding officer Supt Mohammad Hafiz Kadir in a press conference held after the 215th Police Day celebration here yesterday.
“As you can see our base camp here is quite old, so a new one will be built for us, not here but in Jakar, Sarikei,” he said.
Hafiz mentioned that the state government has approved the tender hence now the new base camp is being constructed.
“For your information, the new base camp will be opposite to the Sarikei cocoa office. The tender has been approved by the state government and is currently under construction.
“The time frame for the construction of the camp to be completed in about three years or at least by 2025, when it is expected to be operational,” he said.
Hafiz assured that the existing Lanang Base would still be maintained.
“Even though we will have a new camp, we will not abandon our base camp here and we will still have personnel here,” he said.
