LUNDU: A sum of RM28,500 was distributed to 16 mosques and 20 surau as well as five permanent settlements in the Tanjung Datu constituency to enable them to carry out various activities during Ramadan.
Tanjung Datu assemblyman, Azizul Annuar Pehin Seri Adenan Satem said this year, Muslims could also perform tarawih prayers in the mosques without social distancing procedures.
“This is because we have entered the transition to the endemic phase of COVID-19 and this means a lot to the Ramadan celebration this year,” he said.
He spoke during the presentation of donations for the mosques and surau in Tanjong Datu constituency at the Pehin Sri Haji Adenan Satem Lundu Mosque today.
Earlier, he also attended thesecond Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Lundu Branch held at the Kampung Gerunggang Jalan Lundu /Bau Community Hall.
He also contributed RM 5,000 to the association.
Also present at the meeting were head of PVATM Lundu Branch Philipsen @Jepun Talot, an observer from the State PVATM Branch Committee Goh Johet Naway, Penghulu Maling Sidek and Tuai Rumah Kampung Gerunggang, William Ibai Anyi.
