SAMARAHAN: The Institute for Rural Advancement (INFRA) Sarawak Campus is 87 per cent completed.
This was said by the Minister of Works, Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof during a press conference after a walkabout at the site here yesterday.
“We are just finalising the work as there’s not much left and if everything goes according to plan, it can be completed by June this year.
“They (INFRA Sarawak) want to start their programmes and courses by September so it is critical for construction to be completed as soon as possible,” he said, adding that there were still minor issues to be solved.
At the same time, Fadillah also expressed his appreciation to the federal government and Samarahan parliamentary seat incumbent Rubiah Wang for bringing the campus to the state.
“Samarahan is known as ‘Kota Ilmu’ (City of Knowledge) and it is appropriate to set up a training centre here for our community leaders,” he said.
Also present were Deputy Director General of Public Works Department, Ir Kamaluddin Abdul Rashid, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) in the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Norison Ramli and Director of INFRA, Dato’ Rubiyah Abd Rahman.
