KUCHING: Additional programmes have been introduced by a Petrosains team to make Sarawakian children aware of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

Director of Commercial and Experience, Petrosains Kuala Lumpur, Kamaruddin Kasim said he had conferred with the government sector including the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Well-being Development on Wednesday (April 6) to discuss the strategic programmes.

“These additional programmes are to nurture the interest and awareness that has been created among Sarawakian children,” he said.

He said this in a press conference after a courtesy visit by Petrosains to Minister of Women, Children and Community Well-being Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at Fatimah’s office, in Baitulmakmur here.

He further suggested that STEM to be exposed to preschool and kindergarten teachers.

“We would like the preschool and kindergarten teachers to teach the children how to make science fun without realising that they actually learning the science itself. That is our main mission,” he added.

He said that the programme they have offered is not limited to only a certain group of but involves all groups of children, wherever they are.

He invited the NGOs to participate and collaborate in making Petrosains a platform to encourage all families to cultivate their interest in learning more about science, in addition for it to be a place to learn and to visit.
