KUCHING: After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) will be organising its Sheda Excellence Awards and Annual Dinner on Aug 6.

Organising chairman Datuk Alex Ting Kuang Kho said submissions of exceptional development projects that showcased unconventional ideas and novel use of green technology, designed to spur the community’s revitalisation, create dynamic public spaces and advance sustainability were welcomed.

“I want to encourage all interested developers to apply as there are categories available for both Sheda members and non members, from landed to strata, residential to commercial developments as well as masterplans, institutional buildings and showrooms,” he said on Thursday (April 7).

Ting also said that for this year, the ceremony was highlighting affordable housing developments in Sarawak in order to motivate developers to achieve the state government’s long-term strategies for its housing development agenda and initiatives.

“The focus on affordable housing will inspire developers to demonstrate creativity and innovation in order to bridge development gaps and transform affordable housing into much sought-after property.

“This emphasis also complements the Sarawak government’s efforts to enable more Sarawakians to own houses.”

Ting said the adjudicators panel comprised independent industry professionals, adding that submissions were evaluated on their own merits, based on weighted Adjudication Criteria within their respective Awards categories.

“The Sheda Excellence Awards is a platform aimed at acknowledging efforts and recognising such attributes as talent and tenacity in bringing projects of caliber to fruition.

“It is also an opportunity to honour transformative development, forward thinking design concepts, unconventional ideas and novel use of technology. Developers whose projects revitalise the landscape and dynamics of community interactions and integration are all encouraged to apply.”

The closing date for submissions falls on May 20.

Similarly, dinner organising chairperson Anguie Kuek said the dinner would be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Aug 6, and would be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
