Search underway for missing man

SERIAN: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched today for a 59-year-old man who was reported missing on April 8 after he failed to return from his farm at Kampung Pridan, Jalan Mentong Merau.

A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said they were alerted by Serian police at 9.40am.

Upon receiving the call, a team from the fire station together with the police, was deployed to the scene to commence the search.

Also involved in the search is the Fire and Rescue Department’s K-9 unit led by two handlers and a canine named Daisy.

As at press time, the victim identified as James Ringen, is yet to be found.

It was reported that the victim’s son lodged a police report regarding his father’s disappearance at Serian police station this morning.

Before lodging a police report, a search party comprising the son and villagers on Saturday tried to locate him but to no avail.

It is understood that the son was informed by his mother of his father’s disappearance at 6am on Saturday.
