KUCHING: The Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) has welcomed the lifting of the rotation system for primary schools nationwide.
Its president Adam Prakash it was a long time coming in terms of students continuing their education in school.
He added that the two disrupted years in the school system have had a negative impact on students.
“The norm of school attendance has become awkward and previous good practices have been neglected and a lazy nature of learning has emerged among school students.
“So when the Ministry of Education (MOE) decided that all students return to school without rotation, this will be able to restore our education system and more importantly for students to ‘recover’ faster from the impact of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) for two years.
“We are already at an endemic stage of COVID-19 and the community has also been educated on how to live with the virus,” he said in his statement on Sunday (Apr 10).
Towards this end Adam hoped that the practice of healthy and clean living would continue.
“Make it our daily practice so that we are not negligent and careless in our daily self-management,” he said.
He also hoped that parents will play their role in advising their children to always take care of themselves, obey the teachers who educate and continue to practice a healthy lifestyle.
“I believe on the part of the teachers and the school, they are all ready to receive all the students back to school as usual.
“With this, we request that the parents teachers association (PTA) in the school be active so that the education of the children becomes the responsibility of all parties,” he added.
Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin recently announced that all primary school pupils will attend school without rotation starting April 17.
He further stated that schools in states under Group A will start on April 17 while schools in states under Group B will start on April 18.
Group A covers Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, while Group B comprises Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
