KUCHING: The President of Football Association of Sarawak (FAS), Dato Posa Majais, hoped the National Level of 30th Women’s Football Championship, Tun Sharifah Rodziah Cup 2017 in Miri will provide a chance for players to showcase their best and represent Sarawak in the SEA Games.
“It is the best platform for staking a slot in the national team to face the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017.
“We hope the players who will represent Sarawak in the tournament shall utilise the opportunity. Playing at our own homeground is the best chance to showcase their talents besides finding the chance to wear the national jersey at the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur in 2017,” said Posa.
“I believe playing at home during the championship will be an advantage to the players to make a surprise,” he said.
A total of 12 teams will compete for the title in the championship from April 8 to 18.
Among them are Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and MIFA.
The champions will receive RM20,000 cash prize, while the runners-up and third place will each get RM10,000 and RM5,000 cash prizes respectively.
