MUKAH: An illegal immigrant was arrested for alleged drug abuse at a plantation field in Balingian here on Friday.
Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 37-year-old man from Indonesia was picked up at 8.30am.
An inspection on the suspect found a plastic packet and a straw tube containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The drugs, weighing 1.13g and valued around RM180, were seized.
Muhamad Rizal added that the suspect, who also failed to produce a valid travel document, was taken to Mukah narcotic police office for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
