KUCHING: A local uncle’s lustful deed of groping female students in the Semariang and Jalan Matang/Depo Link areas has resulted in him being handcuffed.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah, who confirmed the case, said the 47-year-old suspect was arrested last Saturday (Apr 16) by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
He said during the incident on Friday (April 15), the suspect stopped a 16-year-old victim as she walked home from school in Jalan Matang/Depo Link.
“The suspect, who was riding his motorcycle, stopped the victim and pretended to ask something from the victim.
“Suddenly, he groped the victim’s chest and ran,” he added.
Three days prior (April 12), the police had received two more reports in the Semariang area regarding similar incidents.
According to Ahsmon, the suspect is currently remanded until Apr 21 to facilitate investigation under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a jail term of up to 10 years, or a fine, or both if convicted.
The police managed to solve three cases of obscenity and physical sexual assault reported in Kuching, with the arrest of the suspects.
