MIRI: Eight firemen from Miri Central on Saturday afternoon helped put out a fire that engulfed a storage room and a kitchen of a house in Taman Hilltop.
In the 1.54pm incident, a man aged 33 who was inside the house, managed to flee when the fire broke out.
No injuries were reported in the incident, said acting Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 Miri chief Senior Superintendent II Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee
He added, when responding to an emergency alert on the incident , firemen from Miri Central led by its chief Bonny Martin, were rushed to the scene.
“Upon their arrival at the scene, the fire had already spread into the kitchen,” he said.
It was reported that the fire had destroyed at about 40 per cent of the house structure.
They managed to put the fire under control at 2.27pm.
