LIMBANG: The Limbang Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) is still attempting to persuade Brunei Darussalam to temporarily open its borders.
In a news report from the Sarawak Public Information Unit (UKAS) today, Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the opening of the border would enable residents from Limbang and Lawas to visit their families in Brunei during this upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
“After being separated for two years due to the COVID-19 outbreak, relatives and friends from both counties will be able to visit each other and celebrate Hari Raya together.
“I’m sure some miss their parents, siblings and friends, and this causes them really want to meet each other after not seeing each other in a long time,” he said at the Majlis Sejambak Kasih Raya 2022 at Purnama Hotel here, recently.
On another note, Abdul Rahman stated that the state government has instructed MASWing Sdn Bhd to boost its flight frequency from three to six or seven flights on weekends between Miri and Limbang.
During the occasion, a total of 1,083 Limbang residents received Hari Raya donations.
Abdul Rahman, who is also the Bukit Kota assemblyman, also distributed ‘duit raya’ as well as hampers to all of the attendees.
He hoped that the donation would help alleviate the financial burden and bring joy to the community in need, particularly during the forthcoming Hari Raya festival.
