BAU: Frontline staff here yesterday received goodies in appreciation of their sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The goodies were presented during a ‘Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri’ which took place under some tents near the Buddhist Shrine Limestone Cave at Jalan Serikin..

The frontline staff came from various despartments under the Bau District Police as well as the Fire and Rescue Department, the Malaysia Civil Defence Force and the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA).

The Hari Raya celebration was graced by Sarawak Police Commissioner Police Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri and his wife Datin Nassariah Mohd Nasir, who is also Persatuan Keluarga Polis (PERKEP) Sarawak Contingent chairwoman.

Azman, in his speech, said, “This is a meaningful ceremony to the officers and frontline staff who did excellent jobs during the pandemic that hit Sarawak two years ago.

“Such ceremonies also boost the ties between the staff of various government agencies.

“I am confident that after this, there will be no problem that cannot be solved because you know each other.”

Azman also handed over the goodies to drivers passing by the cave and members of the media covering the event.

Later, he visited the Serikin Border Post and handed over Hari Raya contributions to 39 army personnel there.

Also present there was the 13th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Rizal Mohd Ali.

Earlier on, Azman visited the Bau District Police Headquarters. He was accompanied by Sarawak Deputy Commissioner Police Datuk Mancha Ata.

Bau District Police chief DSP Poge Nyaon greeted Azman’s arrival at the district police headquarters.

The police commissioner was also briefed on the situation in the district.
