LAWAS: Several villages in the valley and riverbanks of Sukang district were flooded following heavy rainfall.
The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported that the floods hit Kampung Long Sukong on Monday (May 9) at 4pm, causing the entire village area to be flooded.
“Based on the information received by UKAS Lawas district, residents were unable to save their belongings or property because of the continuous heavy rain and fast flowing water, thus resulting in damages to property, orchards, and paddy fields which affected the residents’ source of income,” it said yesterday (May 10).
The floods this time around were more severe than the previous floods.
No casualties were reported and the situation was said to be under control.
