KUCHING: Wesak Day will be celebrated at the Sarawak Buddhist Association Main Temple along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here on Sunday (May 15).

It is being organised by the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) in collaboration with Sarawak Unit For Other Religions Charitable Trust and Malaysia Buddhist Association Sarawak Branch (MBASB).

Among those invited is the guest of honour, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the Sarawak Unit For Other Religions Charitable Trust Board of Trustees as well as the Heads of Other Religious Institutions.

The blood donation campaign and the Buddhist Bathing Ceremony, also known as “Buddha Bathing,” which will be performed by Buddhists, are two of the main programmes that will take place in conjunction with the Wesak Day Celebration.

As the country is still in the phase of transition to endemicity, the number of invited guests is limited to 200 people.

The celebration aims to foster brotherhood and the values of tolerance, mutual respect and harmony among people of various races and religions. Similar programmes will be organised in the future in collaboration with other religious institutions.
