MUKAH: Four residents here yesterday afternoon received compensation cheques from Etiqa General Takaful Berhad (EGTB).

They were  the Village Chief (KK), Mohamad B Kassim of Kpg Sg Ragei Mukah who received RM1, 725, Hanny Marshal of Kpg Siteng (RM770), Talip Sebli of Kpg Pulat Balingian (RM1,800) and KK Tai Ki Man of Kenyana (RM1,800).

It is learnt that  these owners of the houses  affected by the recent floods had submitted  their claims to the insurance company.

Their houses were among  97 houses in the Mukah Division which were insured under Rumah Desa Plan initiated by EGTB.

The cheques were presented by Tellian State Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo, at the Leaders with the People Programme and the presentation of compensation cheques to the flood victims (Rumah Desa Etiqa Takaful Plan).

In his speech at the function, Yussibnosh wanted the insurance programme which was the first of its kind in Malaysia to be promoted to the people in the area. He  believed that most of the locals were ignorant of the existence of such practical and  affordable insurance.
