SIBU: Bukit Assek assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, is planning to turn Rejang Esplanade into a youth park.
“I would like to transform it (Rejang Esplanade) into a youth park so that we can organise more youth activities in it.
“People can come to the town centre and enjoy the facilities there,” he said to the media during a press conference held at Bukit Assek Service Centre yesterday.
Chieng said he used to go to the park during his childhood.
“Very unfortunately for the past 10 years, this Rejang Esplanade has been unutilised so it is a very sad thing to see.
“So, as a local YB. It is also my duty to revive the Rejang Esplanade so that more people will use it,” he said.
He pointed out that Rejang Esplanade was located in a very good location with good facilities. Hence, it was time to revive the place.
“It is a very nice layout and the scenery is beautiful with our mother river, the Rejang River, just in front of us. It is very comfortable sitting there, especially during the night time,” he said.
