DEBAK: Contractors are urged to take responsibility for development projects that could not be completed on time, particularly the Debak Sub-District Sports Complex and several projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development, Mohammad Razi Sitam stressed that when it was stated that a project must be completed within a year or by a specific date, contractors must comply.
The Saribas assemblyman said this after reviewing the latest updates in the construction of the Debak Sub-District Sports Complex as well as several RTP projects under the supervision of the Betong District Council (MDB).
“Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg approved the RM8.9mil sports complex, which was built on 10 acres of land.
Also, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas officiated the earth-breaking ceremony last year, and the contractor was supposed to complete the project within 12 months, but only 45 per cent was completed.”
According to him, the matter was brought up during a meeting with the Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government.
He strongly urges the contractor to complete the project on time; delays concern me greatly, especially since the development project is highly anticipated by the public.

He also urged all implementing agencies and contractors to complete all pending RTP projects as soon as possible.
“Following a recent meeting with the Public Works Department, I learned that several RTPs for 2020 to 2022 have yet to be implemented. I request that all these projects be completed as soon as possible.”
