MIRI: The police have reclassified the death of a man whose body was found at the back alley of Jalan Bouleveard 2A on the morning of May 19 as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code from sudden death.

This was disclosed by Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement today.

The body was found lying unconscious with wounds on the head believed to had been hit with a blunt object.

“We have reclassified the case as murder following a result from the post mortem conducted at Miri Hospital,” he said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the last person seen with the man when he was alive was a local man in his 30’s.

Acting on the information received, the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained a man at Pujut Corner this morning at 11.45 am for questioning.

Police have also advised the public not to speculate on the case as it could interfere in the police probe.
