OPPOSITION representatives appealed to the Sarawak government to consider giving them the same allocations as those given to the government representatives for the sake of the people.

The appeal was made by Dr Johnichal Rayong Ngipa (PSB-Engkelili) when delivering his maiden speech during the motion of appreciation to the Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday.

“I would like to request the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to consider providing allocations such as those under the Minor Rural Project (MRP), Rural Transformation Porgramme (RTP), and other allocations from the Public Fund to all the opposition representatives.

“As what have been given to the government representatives for the purpose of “Intu” (look after) Sarawak and the people in their respective areas,” he said.

Rayong also pointed out through this, political stability would be guaranteed and that Sarawak would continue to progress and succeed Post COVID-19.

“At the Central Government level, our YAB Prime Minister has also channelled the allocation of funds to representatives in the opposition block.

“In early 2006, When I was an Independent candidate before joining Barisan Nasional (BN), I was given MRP allocations and other facilities like those obtained by other representatives from the Barisan Nasional (BN) by the Chief Minister.

“Therefore, I hope the Premier of Sarawak will be able to consider this application for the sake of the people and the Sarawak in the bigger picture,” he said.
