KUCHING: The forthcoming 5th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2022 marks the fifth year of inception and realisation of the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy (2018-2022).

There will be two highlights, namely, the inaugural Digital Economy Award 2022 (DEA 2022) and Digital Satellite Programme (DSP).
Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) Deputy Chief Scientist Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Al-Khalid Othman said the inaugural award would be one of the most important activities of this upcoming event.

It serves to recognise and reward the contributions of Sarawakians who have championed and participated continuously in digital economy initiatives across various sectors respectively.

“By embracing the use of digital technologies, this award can be the motivation to the stakeholders to further execute the digital initiatives with a high impact on society” he told a press conference held at the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence, Bangunan Yayasan Sarawak here yesterday.

Al-Khalid said various organisations including those from the public and private sectors, industries, government-linked companies (GLCs), universities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and individuals would be recognised and honoured for their talents in transforming Sarawak into a remarkably digitalized society that embraced the use of digital technologies.
