BINTULU: The current supply of chickens and eggs here is enough and stable, said Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Bintulu chief Nazari Hassan.
According to him, this is based on daily monitoring and inspection carried out by the ministry at local premises, which also found no price hikes for the two essential items ahead of the Gawai Dayak festival.
He said the supply of both of items here were stable as traders obtained their stocks from Sibu and Kuching.
“Delivery (of both items) to Bintulu is done three times a week and so far, no shortage of supply has been recorded,” he said when asked to comment on the supply of chickens and eggs in the district.
He added although there was no panic buying reported here involving the two items, chicken eggs would usually sell out within hours of the premises restocking them.
“The supply of controlled goods at selected retailers and wholesalers here as of May 28 is 44,376kg of sugar, 34.07 metric tonnes of packet cooking oil, 784kg of standard chicken, 568kg of super chicken and 28,794kg of wheat flour,” he said.
Nazari added the supply would be updated daily in KPDNHEP’s system to ensure it is enough for the local market.
