MIRI: Police here arrested a man for allegedly causing injuries to his wife’s head and body following a misunderstanding on June 1.
It was reported that the incident happened on Wednesday evening at a longhouse in Sungai Tiris, Baram.
Prior to incident, the couple had a misunderstanding which had triggered a fight.
It was said that the 26-year-old suspect had punched, kicked and strangled his 22-year-old wife.
A police report was subsequently lodged following the incident. A team from the
district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) managed to arrest the suspect.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect was arrested on the same night around 11.30pm.
The case is being investigated under Sections 323, Section 427 and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
