SIBU: The youth in the local villages here who might have fruitful ideas that benefit the community at large were encouraged to share it with their respective community leaders and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).

Deputy chairman of Sibu Municipal Council, Bujang Zainuddin Abdul Majid stressed that, by sharing it, their community leaders and the JKKK can help them to look for ways and means on how best to further improve their ideas that would benefit their community.

“Our youth are our future leaders, thus I believe they have plenty of fruitful ideas which they can share for the benefits our community.

“By working closely together, our youth, the community leaders, the Village Development and Security Committee as well as the relevant parties can make things improved for the better for our community,” he pointed out.

He was speaking at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering jointly organised by the JKKK of Kampung Baharu in collaboration with the Surau Darul Ma’wa Kampung Baharu, recently.

The deputy chairman of Surau Darul Ma’wa Kampung Baharu, Mohd Saleman Ibrahim and the chairman of JKKK Kampung Baharu Abdul Hajis Abdullah were also present.

In his address, Bujang said, the positive response of more than 300 villagers who turned up at the event was a solid proof of the close rapport and cooperation among the villagers of Kampung Baharu and the event organisers.

“Without close cooperation among them through their gotong-royong spirit, they might not be able to hold the event successfully as planned.

“So, please uphold our precious kampung gotong-royong spirit that encourages everyone to work together voluntarily,” he added.

He also encouraged the local villagers with good cooking skills involving the various kind of cuisines including the delicious traditional cuisines to share them with their respective community leaders and JKKKs in their areas. This is in order that efforts can be made to further promote their quality products not only in their areas but also elsewhere.
