KUCHING: A 37-member delegation from the Singapore Trade Mission called on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office here today.
The visitors, comprising senior officials from the Republic’s public and private sectors, were led by the permanent secretary (Development), Ministry of Commerce Singapore (MTI) Lee Chuan Teck.
The trade mission aimed at exploring potential opportunities for Singapore through collaboration with Sarawak in the renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, carbon credit, digital economy and data centres, ports and agriculture sectors.
Business and network matching are reportedly underway with companies in Sarawak involved in the above sectors.
Earlier, the delegation paid a similar call on the Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah who is also the Minister of Finance and New Economy II and the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development.
SEG managing director Jeffrey Siow, Temasek International deputy chief executive officer and Singapore Port Authority (PSA) vice president Lee Peng Gee were among members of the delegation.
During the visit, PSA shared their experiences and journeys in port management that had been privatised in 1997, while Temasek International briefed on their efforts in food safety.
The director of Sarawak Economic Planning Unit Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel briefed the visitors on the Post Covid-19 2030 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).
