KUCHING: Graduates of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak’s newly introduced Diploma of Accountancy will be well placed to explore career prospects in accounting, auditing, taxation, finance and general consulting.
Cynthia Aling, Diploma (Business, Design and Arts) Course Director and lecturer at Swinburne Sarawak, said that this course, which has intakes in April and September, will prepare prospective students for entry into the workforce or act as a pathway to higher education.
“For example, graduates can enrol in the Bachelor of Business suite of courses offered here at Swinburne Sarawak. These undergraduate business courses are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
“Furthermore, for graduates who plan to enrol in the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance), these two courses are professionally accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Australia and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),” she said.
Graduates of the Diploma of Accountancy course are eligible for credit exemption that could shorten their studies during their Bachelor’s degree.
“Upon completion, graduates will have sound overall accounting knowledge and will have applied theory to practical situations. Analytical and creative skills will have been enhanced along with being an effective communicator,” she added.
Students graduating with the Diploma of Accountancy will be equipped with the appropriate skills and knowledge to obtain anticipated employment in various government and private organisations.
Swinburne Sarawak, in collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak, also offers the Yayasan Sarawak BP40 Bursary Scheme – a special bursary scheme for eligible Sarawakian Bumiputera students which allows them to enrol into their preferred programmes at foundation, diploma or degree levels with subsidised tuition fees.
