The state government’s Special Assistance for Kidney Patients (BKPBP) initiative helps ease the financial burden of kidney patients who need treatment for kidney diseases, especially those diagnosed with end stage renal failure.

As of April 2022, 32 new BKPBP applications were approved, and there were 98 extended recipients of special assistance for kidney patients as of May this year, involving an expenditure of RM522,988 (new recipients) and RM2,191,436 (extended recipients).

BKPBP is free at government hospitals or health clinics statewide.

The initiative offers two types of assistance, namely clinical assistance and supportive assistance.
