KUCHING: Two good friends were fined RM5,000 or spend five months in jail for stealing iron bars belonging to a construction company.
Mohammad Saufik Abdul Rauf, 24, and Ajis Faizal Bolkipli, 37, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.
They were charged with jointly stealing eight iron bars belonging to a construction company in Jalan Sungai Maong Baru, around 3.05 am, on June 19.
A security guard there who saw what was going on managed to catch one of them with the stolen goods.
He then handed over Mohammad Saufik to the police for further action.
Ajis was arrested by police at a house in Kampung Sungai Maong on June 21, around 1.15 pm.
Investigation found that they had stolen the iron bars belonging to a construction company, causing a loss of RM150.
The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin.
