LAWAS: The state government will set up another Sarawak Pavillion in Brunei and Pontianak, Indonesia to help local entrepreneurs tap foreign markets.
In stating this Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the government will continue to support local businesses by helping entrepreneurs get platforms for them to trade.
“The government has always provided the opportunity to market local products, including in the foreign market,” he said at the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (PMKS) Week, here today.
“The platform for us to expand the market already exists but the products must be of good quality with attractive packaging.”
Towards this end he said the people should therefore get involved in business, whether micro, small or medium enterprises.
“One of the agenda emphasised to eradicate poverty is through business establishment.
“We have a lot of resources. It depends on us, how we take advantage of that opportunity.
“If the desire to strive is not nurtured in ourselves, we will not succeed.”
Awang Tengah who is also Second Natural Resources and Urban Development Minister added that local products can be value-added which will indirectly help boost the country’s economy.
