SIBU: Tuai Rumah from the opposition party should not prohibit government representatives from entering their longhouses.
This was said by Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing when officiating at the close of the Dudong KMKK and Village Security and Development Committee course on Thursday (July 7).
“They cannot arbitrarily prohibit government representatives from entering their longhouses without a process of negotiation,” he said.
Apart from that, Tiong also urged that the administrative unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department assist in the appointment of Pemanca in the Dudong constituency.
Tiong pointed out that it was important to ensure that the problem of the local community be resolved immediately.
Meanwhile, on the course, Tiong shared that it was not easy for the resident’s office to conduct such a programme.
He noted that the Dudong constituency has more than 200 longhouses.
Hence, he hoped that the community leaders attending the course would use the knowledge and information gained to serve the community and fulfil their responsibilities.
“Programmes like this are needed to ensure that bilateral communication between the two parties remains strong to address issues of the people.
“Any challenge or problem needs to be resolved immediately through consensus among community leaders to deliver accurate information to the community.”
