SIBU: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended an Aidiladha qurban programme at Masjid Al-Qadim here.

The event on Monday (July 11) was organised by Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Sibu.

Later, Abang Johari presented qurban meat to 20 asnaf families. A total of 50 asnaf families from Nangka and Dudong constituencies received the meat.

On Monday night, he officiated the opening ceremony of Masjid Al-Qadim, the oldest mosque in Sarawak, which was built in 1861.

Also present were Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Sibu Resident Wong Hee Sieng, and Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, a political secretary of the Sarawak Premier.
