SAMARAHAN: The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is eager to collaborate and work together with its alumni.
FSSH Dean Professor Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat said there are many opportunities for the faculty and its alumni to collaborate be it through research or outreach programmes with the community.
“As a faculty that is based on the community, we emphasise on community engagements. With alumni who are working in the outside world, perhaps we can work together to give back to our local community.
“There are many things that we can do in Sarawak especially for the communities in the rural areas,” he said when officiating at the closing ceremony of the Festival of Social Sciences and Humanities (FOSSH) 2021/2022 today.
He expressed hope the festival will be the flagship of FSSH so that the faculty will be outstanding in the university.
“We will continue to have engagements between our faculty members and students so that they will know the activities and programmes lined up throughout the year,” he said.
During the closing ceremony, Neilson together with his deputy deans and head of programmes presented certificates and prizes to winners of the various competitions held in conjunction with the festival.
The FOSSH 2021/2022 was held from May 13 to June 12 this year with the theme ‘Bridging Faculty, Students and Alumni’ and organised by Persatuan Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan (PSSK) 2021/2022.
