MARUDI: The adopted village dental programme launched in Negeri Sembilan in 2019 has been extended here to ensure a wider delivery of dental services in the state.
The Kampung Angkat Pergigian Programme was officiated by Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil at Rumah Nora, Sungai Buri, Bakong here, today.
t aims to educate the community on proper dental health care and play a role in improving the standard of dental health in the community.
The Kampung Angkat Pergigian Programme is a new initiative in the delivery of dental health services and will be expanded nationwide.
The use of the term ‘village’ in this programme refers to a group of community settlements, either in the village or in the city including settlements of the B40 group, marginalised communities and the urban poor.
Through this programme, people who live far inland and find it difficult to access dental services have the opportunity to get dental services from the dental team that comes to carry out dental services on the go.
Also present at the programme were Datuk Dr. Penguang’s wife, Datin Monica Ukong Jaya, Miri Divisional Dental Officer Dr. Wan Mariam Wan Abdul Rahman, Miri City Dental Clinic Dental Officer Dr. Franklin Richard Seling, Beluru SAO District Officer representative Marliney Igil, National School Headmaster Sg Buri Ili Bakong Caroline Endun Engkulau, Miri Dayak Association President Wilfred Mac, Miri Dayak Association Youth Chairman Martin Dinil, Miri District National Anti-Drug Agency Prevention and Publicity Unit Head Sophia Anne Boddy Jabu, Marudi District Council Chairman Edward Mendai and tribal leaders and community leaders (KMKK).
