KUCHING: A local man was sentenced to two months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court today (July 18) for trespassing into a telecommunication tower facility owned by Sacofa Sdn Bhd.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali pronounced sentence on Ahmad Faizzirul, 26, after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the charge, the accused committed the offence at the telecommunication tower near Taman Sri Wangi, Jalan Menggris, on July 3 at 4.05am.

The accused was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to six months or a fine of up to RM3,000 or both.

The court was told that the complainant, a policeman at the Gita Police Station, received a phone call from the Sacofa Communications headquarters in Kuala Lumpur that a man had broken into ​​the tower facility.

Police arrested the accused on the day of the incident.

Police confiscated a hacksaw, a backpack, gunny sacks, a knife, screwdrivers, wrenches, a smartphone and a waist bag from the accused.
