KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Asajaya branch is all for the party fielding candidates of all age groups in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Its chief Syahrizzal Arfandy Adam said this is not something impossible to implement.
“Looking at the last 12th State Election, apart from the elderly, many new candidates in their early 30s were given the opportunity to become candidates and subsequently won in the contested state seats.
“They are Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Anuar Adenan, Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor and Telian assemblyman Royston Valentine who represent Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and PBB,” he said in a statement on Monday (July 18).
He added that currently GPS also has a young MP under the age of 40, namely, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni who was elected as a candidate in GE14 when the latter was about 34.
On July 16, PBB vice-president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said PBB is expected to field candidates of all age groups in the coming general election.
He said that it is in tandem with the party’s aspiration to cater to all age groups in the state.
