SRI AMAN: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has announced Wilson Entabang as its candidate to stand for the Sri Aman parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th General Election.

Party president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said the party Elections Committee (EC) headed by Selangau MP Baru Bian has recommended Wilson as the candidate for the seat, adding that the proposal has been unanimously supported by the PSB Presidential Council.

“Wilson is considered the best candidate to represent PSB for the Sri Aman parliamentary seat.

“Since his slight defeat in Simanggang by just a difference of 175 votes, he never stopped working and has been going on the ground as well as visiting residents’ houses and others.

“This shows that he is a highly committed and dedicated leader,” he said during his visit to Sri Aman on yesterday.

Sri Aman incumbent, Datuk Masir Kujat was formerly of PSB. He won the seat on a Barisan Nasional (BN) – Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) ticket.

He left PSB earlier this year, pledging his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the current federal government.

Meanwhile, Soon Koh added the involvement of Entabang is reflective of the party’s policies, which is to help improve the wellbeing and welfare of the people.

“The people want a better life, and this is the struggle of PSB. Our main concern is to provide basic and essential needs to the people.

“Provide better jobs with higher incomes, better educational facilities, more health and medical care facilities, better social security, other infrastructure facilities at the best level as well as more stable and widespread internet coverage.

“Therefore, we really need capable MPs to be in the Parliament so that our people’s representatives can bring our voice to the federal government.

“Thus, I am sure, he is the right person to represent us in Parliament – to fight for our rights,” he said.

Soon Koh, who is also the Bawang Assan assemblyman, therefore called upon the people in Sri Aman parliamentary constituency to give their fullest support to Entabang.

“When the time comes, all PSB party leaders and members will stand firmly behind Wilson, giving him full support so that he can win in the next election,” he said.

Entabang, who was fielded by PSB in Simanggang in the Sarawak State Election last year failed to unseat incumbent Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

The former however obtained a respectable number of votes, missing out by a mere 175 votes, polling 3,779 votes to Harden’s 3,954.
