KUALA LUMPUR: airasia’s Santan has unveiled its new on-the-go packaging dubbed ‘Nasi Lemak On-The-Go’ for its signature dish at an affordable price.

The pyramid-shaped ‘Nasi Lemak’ comes with the same great taste and with a unique new packaging, priced at RM4.90 for ala carte and combo set with ‘Teh Tarik’ priced at below RM10, will be served at all Santan restaurants and via AirAsia food app.

airasia’s Santan general manager Catherine Goh said the food and beverage brand wants to apply the idea of fast food which offers convenience and easy consumption for the people by innovating a new on-the-go packaging which replaced the traditional way of eating on plates.

“We focus on Nasi Lemak because we are the best at it, we innovate it with new packaging, something that has not been done before, and we want to see how we can bring a product from Malaysia to the world via a fast food concept.

“In another two months, this new Nasi Lemak will also be served on airlines, as it’s convenient for people to eat by just holding it,” she said after the launch of the ‘Nasi Lemak On-The-Go’ at AirAsia Academy here, today.

Goh said Santan will open a new restaurant in a mall near Ampang, Selangor by the end of this year, and plans to expand its business to other states such as Penang, Sabah and Sarawak, and to other ASEAN countries including Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

“While expanding to other regions, we will also be focusing more on Malaysia by implementing a new concept with the opening of a shop lot which would be easier for people to access.

“We will also announce our partnerships with new convenience stores and petrol stations as the new packaging fits this market and we will start selling by October this year,” she said.

In conjunction with the launch of ‘Nasi Lemak On-The-Go’, there will be up to 12,000 airasia’s Santan meals up for grabs and up to a million airasia points to be given out, thanks to airasia food and airasia rewards.
