KUCHING: The public are reminded to give their cooperation when attending the Kuching Food Festival, which is making a comeback after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the public should always be responsible and if anyone was unwell such as having fever, cough and other coronavirus symptoms, they should not go to the festival.

“Apart from that, the public should wear face masks at all times, even in an open space event, to protect themselves and those around them,” reminded Wee.

He was speaking to the media after receiving a contribution from Magnum ENE (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd at the MBKS building here today.

The festival’s organising chairman Councillor Goh Tze Hui said as per standard operating procedure (SOP), tables and chairs would be arranged with a certain distance apart and he reminded the public to practice physical distancing, if possible.

“If you see many people at a stall, do not go there first. Wait for your turn. If there are fewer people, then you can patronise it.”

Goh also revealed that, in addition to Magnum and Tay Motors, they were also working with online food and grocery delivery platform foodpanda to provide food delivery services for all stalls at the festival.

Wee reminded the public not to easily trust text messages from unknown sources, especially about lucky draw results, and urged the public to visit the MBKS website for more information on the festival.
