MUKAH: Deputy chairman of Sarawak Parti KeAdilan Rakyat (PKR), Abdul Jalil Bujang welcomed the newly formed coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). He hoped that GPS could become a responsible opposition at the federal level in providing an efficient check and balance role.
“I welcome them to become a responsible opposition and expecting them to be able to play the role of a competent partner in providing an efficient check and balance role for the benefit of the rakyat (people) and country,” he said.
Abdul Jalil, a PKR candidate for the Mukah Parliamentary constituency in the just concluded 14th General Election also pointed out that at the state level, GPS should not play a vindictive role. “At the state level, they should not play a vindictive role by inheriting the Barisan Nasional (BN)’s culture.
If so, they are merely just an external reincarnation,” he said. On the Melanau community in general, Abdul Jalil expressed his concern that the community is still very much behind and hoped that the matter would be addressed amicably. This soft spoken politician said this when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday morning.
