KUCHING: The police have arrested 12 persons including three women to facilitate investigations into a beating that turned into the murder of an 18-year-old boy on July 29.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the suspects aged between 14 and 50 are locals.
He added that the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested from the day of the incident until Tuesday (Aug 2).
“All of them are currently remanded for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The section provides for the death penalty.
“We will be referring the case to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action,” he said.
Early on, police confirmed that the victim succumbed to his injuries after being beaten at Jalan Tun Jugah.
The public are advised not to make speculations about the case for fear of interfering with police investigations.
