LAWAS: Five families were left homeless after their house in Kampung Banting, was razed to the ground today (Aug 10).
The inferno, which did not involve any injuries or casualties, happened around 7.20am.
Lawas fire station chief Azman Ibrahim, via a press statement, said the house was inhabited by five families comprising 11 residents.
At that material time, five residents managed to get out to safety before the situation worsened while the other six residents were not at home.
He said his men were promptly despatched to the scene, about 4km from the station, after receiving a distress call.
Upon arriving, the team confirmed that the double-storey house was completely destroyed and the extinguishing deed was carried out.
The flames were brought under control around 8.15am and the extinguishing operation ended at 10am.
Relevant authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and total losses incurred.
